Description: Mississippi Moan: The Making of Blackwing Yalobusha follows female garage-blues duo The Moaners to revisit their Mississippi roots while recording their latest album, Blackwing Yalobusha at the former Money Shot studios, the immortal haunt of boogie-blues legends R.L. Burnside and Junior Kimbrough. In addition to documenting the music they would make at the legendary studio, Melissa Swingle and Laura King brought along Yep Roc Records co-founder (and default videographer) Tor Hansen to capture the whole escapade on film. Part road movie and part time capsule, Mississippi Moan: The Making of Blackwing Yalobusha captures the back porch vibe of the sessions and provides an unadorned glimpse of a brewing musical power in its nascency. |
