Mr. Richardson seems like a good individual, and he was an appealing candidate for me until I saw that interview. Even if he made a "mistake" or did not fully understand the question, we are talking about the next President of the U.S. That individual has to be sharp, but unfortunately I do not see Mr. Richardson as being of that calibre--to lead the nation through thick or thin. My support has shifted completely to Mr. Gravel, with Hillary a strong second.

The way I feel it is okay for Richardson or anyone that is straight for that matter to feel that it is a choice. How are they supposed to know how we feel until they've been in our shoes? This is a topic that is tough for someone who obviously can't experience it. If any straight person says it's a choice it's only because we've told them so not because they feel that way. It's all about poerspective. How does this opinion affect any legislation that may go through him? He has proven himself.

so, i read about this first in the news paper, being from new mexico i can say he has been a good governor, but i think what he and his PR staff needs to do now, is put up the video volentaraly and after go on camera and own up to his mistake. if these people running for president would own up and correct themselves on camera, then the internet wouldn't be a buzz with what he did. thank, Chelsea

Good points, friend. However, as the Governor himself stated, the main point of his stance is that it doesn't matter whether it's a choice or not, homosexuals and lesbians still deserve equal rights. I'm not gay myself, but if I was, I think I would be pretty well satisfied with Governor Richardson's statements.

hi, i agree that richardson looked shocked in at the 'choice' question from melissa etheridge. perhaps he was underprepared for the debate? i'm actually a UK citizen but have taken an interest in what is happening in the forthcoming US election in terms of gay issues because the gay community is a global community and from a UK point of view it seems that some states in the US have very repressive laws. Anyways Richardson seemed a little caught off guard here.
