I've read about how the microwave killing enzymes isn't an issue to be concerned about, but I noticed much less heartburn problems when I stopped using one. For popcorn: there is no healthy microwave popcorn that I know of. Air popped non-GM is the way to go. EV Olive Oil, raw Hemp Oil, raw Macadamia Nut oil: all better than butter. ;)

Why not just use a toaster oven? I highly doubt anyone in your family would object to that. Whatever you can't heat up in a toaster oven, you can heat up on the stove. There is absolutely no good reason to use a microwave.
